Are Preventive Diagnostics and Early Treatment of Puerperal (Endo)Metritis Beneficial for Reproductive Performance in Cows?
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The object of this field trial was to evaluate reproductive performance in cows preventively examined and treated in cases of puerperal (endo)metritis (Group P, n= 83), in comparsion with cows that were not preventively examined and were treated only occasionally on the basis of the farmers´ notification of pathological discharge (Group C, n= 95). In Group P rectal and vaginal examinations were performed on day 10 ? 3 post partum and 32 cows diagnosed with (endo)metritis were treated i.m. with a prostaglandin analogue dinoprostum and i.u. with foam antibiotic (rifaximinum). Examination and treatment were repeated on day 24? 3 post-partum. Occurrence of ovarian disorders (OD) and chronic endometritis (CE), calving to first service interval (CS), first service pregnancy rate (SP), services per conception (SC), calving to conception interval (CC) and culling rate (CR) were compared using ANOVA and Kruskal ? Walis test. Values for Group P versus Group C were not different (OD 30,1 vs 24,2%
