  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most prevalent acquired heart disease in cats. Although the etiology of feline HCM is unknown, certain breeds appear to be predisposed suggesting a genetic pattern. Sometimes heart muscle thickening similar to HCMcan develop secondary to other disorders such as hyperthyroidism (HT) and systemic hypertension also leading to heart failure. The aim of the study was to retrospectively determine the proportion of patients with myocardial hypertrophy resembling HCM with HT (HT/HCM). Also the association of thyrotoxicosis with clinical, radiographical, ECG and echocardiographical signs was evaluated. Clinical records of feline patients diagnosed with HCM in a period of 2 years in the Clinic of Dog and Cat Diseases atthe Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences were used (2008-2009). All data was analyzed using descriptive and non-parametric statistics. During this period 16 cats were diagnosed with HCM by c
