In general, few other species of strongylid nematodes have been recorded in African great apes. Reports about the infections are, however, rare and these strongylids are mostly typical pathogens of other animals. As in the most of the strongylid nematodes, diagnostic is based on the eggs present in the feces, however closer determination is impossible. For determination into the genus level L3 infectious larvae developed in the coprocultures and into the species level molecular methods used for both fecal or coproculture material are required.
