Metastatic iridophoroma in two leopard geckos (Eublepharis macularius).
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Two female leopard geckos (Eublepharis macularius), Lemon frost colour morph (A 2 years old, B 9 months old), were presented in suboptimal body conditions with the history of four months lasting multiple skin lesions in female A and one solid skin lesion and two weeks of anorexia in female B. The physical examination of the female A revealed multiple ulcerative skin lesions, while the physical examination of the female B revealed simple solid skin lesion, distension of the body wall and palpable mass in the coelom. Whole body native radiographs were performed. The most striking finding was hepatomegaly in female B. In both patients, after the stabilization, the surgical excision of the skin lesions was performed with the standard protocol of general anaesthesia. Histopathological examination of skin lesions in both female leopard geckos revealed iridophoroma. In female A the recovery was uneventful, and after 2 weeks of post-op care the patient was returned back to the breeding colony. The female died nine months after the surgery. Necropsy revealed presence of multiple granulomas in visceral organs. The female B died one day after the surgery. Necropsy revealed hepatodystrophy and presence of the pathological tissue in visceral organs. Histopathological examination of organs in both cases revealed metastasizing iridophoroma as the diagnosis. To our best knowledge this is the first report of clinical and histopathological findings of metastasizing iridophoroma in captive Lemon Frost leopard gecko.
