Abdominal radiography and ultrasound in ferrets
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Abdominal radiography and ultrasonography are the most commonly used diagnostic tools in veterinary practice and has important role in the diagnosis of ferret diseases. These imaging methods are non invasive and can provide the clinician with large amount of information. Digital radiography replacing convention film and screen radiography in the small mammals practices, as computer -generated images provide superior detail and allow post processing adjustments in tissue densit contrast, exposition, and other image enhancing tools. Nevertheless, accurate patient positioning and optimal settings of the radiographic machine (kV, mAs) are necessary. Settings of the machine is similar as for small cats or are established specially for ferrets, e.g. in case of ultrasonography, most ultrasound scans are performed at a depth of 1-5cm, so a frequency range of a probe shoul be within 8-12MHz. Using of linear micro-convex ultrasound probes are preferred by the authors.
