Fish as possible bioindicators of water environment
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Water ecosystem may be considered one of the most heavily contaminated segments of the environment. Current contamination assessment does not only consider primary contamination but also secondary contamination, which is even more appropriate in many cases, as it involves long-term contamination of certain segments of the environment. Fish are a very good indicator of hydrosphere contamination with PCB, for their ability to eliminate these contaminants is very limited, in fact merely to low-chlorinatedcongeners of PCB, while most of the PCB congeners detected in fish include penta- and hexa-chlorinebiphenyls. The study deals with transfer of PCB from contaminated water to the water ecosystem. In addition to the water and sediments PCB were also foundin different fish tissues (silverfish, tench). Tench is permanent location fish keeping by the bottom and not forming shoals except in the spawning period. Silverfish forms shoals and is very aggressive. Fish were caught in a water reserv
