Evaluation of the water contamination level by synthetic musk compounds
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Musk fragrances are semivolatile organic compounds that are discharged to the environment through human activity. Synthetic musks are a relatively heterogeneous group of chemicals with just one common general property. The odorous character of all thesecompounds makes them favourable for application in perfumes and other cosmetic products. These compounds contaminate the aquatic environment via municipal wastewater from sewage treatment plants. The result is accumulation of these analytes in the environment and their occurrence in the food chain. Due to their extensive use, musk compounds have become ubiquitous in the environment, and they are prevalent in surface water, sludge, suspended particulate matter and sediment. This study was focused on determination of selected musk compounds in real samples of wastewater (influent and effluent) from wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) Brno-Modřice (Czech Republic). Four representatives of linear musk compounds (dihydromyrcenol, cyclohexyleth
