A tanulmány a Betegápoló Irgalmas Rend magyar tartományának egészségügyi tevékenységével foglalkozik. A bemutatott adatok a rend gyógyszertárainak személyzeti állapotát jellemzik a 20. század első évtizedeiben. Az adatokat a korabeli rendi névjegyzékek részletes elemzésével nyertük. A vizsgált időszakban a gyógyszertári személyzet a rendtagok 33-42 %-át alkotta, a patikákban a diplomás gyógyszerészek mellett vizsgázott gyógyszerészsegédek és gyakornokok is működtek.

The paper deals with the healthcare activities of the Hungarian Province of the Merciful Brethren Order. The Merciful Brethren Order (Brothers Hospitallers of St. John of God) was founded by Juan Ciudad (St. John of God) in 1537 in Granada, Spain. Theirfirst place of working in the Central European region was Valtice, where a convent was established in 1605. The Hungarian Province of the Order was founded in 1856 and included 13 convents. In each of them the Order ran a hospital and a pharmacy and provided qualified health care - some of the brothers were educated in medicine, pharmacy or surgery. Presented data describe the personal status and professional staff of the pharmacies in the first decades of 20th century, and are based on analysis of schematismus of the Hungarian Province. Order pharmacies provided health services for own hospitals and also for the public. The pharmacy staff comprised 33-42 per cents of the order members.
