Abstract: The paper submitted gives first a brief description of the system of teaching English, the prominent means of international communication, at educating institutions in the Czech Republic. This introduction is followed by a general outline of the methods and study materials used nowadays. The main focus of the paper is given to teaching English for specific purpose at universities, mainly teaching English within the sphere of Information and Communication Technologies, which have become an inseparable part of teachers´ training courses. The specially created teaching and learning materials are discussed, as well as the CLIL methodological approach.
