Social Work with Children in Need in the Czech Republic

Children and young people represent an important target group of social work. This target group is very heterogeneous: Firstly, the social work can be aimed to children who suffer from inadequate raising or an offence, and who are put in a socially unfavourable situation due to different reasons. Secondly, these are children who commit a crime. Both categories mentioned above can be labelled as the children in need. In other words, these children are threatened by another person, or, their growth is threatened by their own unbecoming behaviour eventually. The institutions monitoring all the issues are represented namely by the authorities of social and legal child protection and by the prosecuting authorities in cooperation with other types of institutions.
