Efficient utilisation of advanced technology is definitely one of crucial factors influencing the competitiveness of manufacturing companies. It is widely believed that advanced technology has a great potential to provide the respective companies with many tangible as well as intangible benefits. On the other hand there are many problems associated with the adoption and evaluation of advanced technology and therefore further research in this field is needed in order to help to the managers to employ theappropriate technology and to utilise it efficiently. This paper brings out some interesting comparisons amongst conditions in the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, and in the United States of America. It is clear that despite many differences that were identified in the respective pieces of research there are many resemblances and common problems too. Some interesting findings that were ascertained especially in the area of perception of strategic importance of advanced manufacturing
