Technology, Elderly and Health: a Vital Mind Project Contribution to Quality of Life
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In next decades number of elderly together with age-related impairments will rise. Therefore, involving elderly in both physical and cognitive exercises is of crucial importance. Advances in information and communication technologies support developmentof cognitive exercises applications on different platforms. Although many cognitive games were produced for computers, they will not probably get to elderly, since they usually tend to reject new technologies. However, in case of elderly television can be considered as a specific type of a ubiquitous technology, since watching television is quite frequent and natural for them. Therefore, cognitive games for seniors playable at TV set should be created. This paper describes effort to fulfill this non-trivial challenge during the realization of the Vital Mind project. Particular paragraphs give an explanation, why this endeavor is reasonable, describe the project content, methodology and used technology.
