The article focuses on the analysis of business conditions in the Czech Republic and through the questions answered by Czech entrepreneurs the article aims at finding out their opinion and attitudes which they perceive when running a business in the conditions of the Czech Republic. The data obtained from a questionnaire survey is current as of September 2013 and it is the first phase of the survey among 271 active entrepreneurs. The main objective of the paper is to identify non-market factors which influence entrepreneurship on the level of small and medium-sized businesses. This contribution focuses on assessing the impact of mainly institutional and administrative load on small and medium-sized businesses as it is perceived by entrepreneurs themselves in the real Czech economy. The conclusions of the contribution evaluate the quality of business environment in the Czech Republic, especially based on the opinion of entrepreneurs having been in business for over 5 years and older tha
