Using traditional means of communication such as municipal newspapers or official desk is not enough nowadays for a lot of citizens. Information are more beneficial as they are up-to-date. Direct communication to citizens’ email or mobile brings benefits for all stakeholders. Messages with relevant information get immediately to recipient with possibility of feedback. All is measurable and targeting of messages is adapted to citizens. Modern technologies and information on time are one of the issues connected with sustainable development. The paper deals with communication between citizens and city authorities, facilitating collaborative processes and digital participation within the smart city. The issue of mobile applications used by city authorities to inform citizens and companies about actualities and development in the city will be presented in the paper. The purpose of the paper is to present selected mobile applications used by Czech city authorities. Smart infrastructure, informing self-government, active self-government, participative self-government, smart government will be solved in the article. Benefits of use of mobile applications by city authorities will be analyzed.
