Marriage and motherhood of underage women in the Czech Republic within the context of transformations in marital and reproductive behaviour since the second half of the 20th century
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Marriages of underage women are not common in the Czech Republic, their permission is subject to a court ruling, and only for the reason of the pregnancy or motherhood of the female partner. At present, in a situation in which marriage has lost its exclusive function for starting a family (40% of children in the Czech Republic are born to women who are not married), the number of marriages of very young women is in even further decline. In the Czech Republic, greater attention is focused on the motherhood of underage women, which is viewed as premature and observed primarily in connection with the increased risk of occurrence of a whole range of social problems. The first part of the chapter presents marriage and motherhood of underage women within thecontext of the transformations in marital and reproductive behaviour in the Czech Republic as a consequence of the political and social changes since the second half of the 20th century. The second part of the text focuses in more detail
