Obituary for one of the Africa´s greatest political scientists whose most important contribution was on the role of culture in politics. His book Cultural Forces in World Politics (1990) was published in England because the U.S. publisher wanted to purge three chapters. He argued that the biggest contributors to world culture are the Semites and the Europeans. Throughout his long career he published more than 30 books. He managed to make Africa visible in the world of ideas. The article lists the major works of Mazrui between 1967 and 2008.
