Ce qui est devenu connu sous le nom de postcommunisme est par essence bien plus pérenne que ce que l'on a pensé initialement. Les comparaisons entre le postcommunisme et le post-colonialisme sont bien en place. Le probleme du "retour a l'Europe" (Havel) posé par le postcommunisme est l'impossibilité de rejoindre "l'Occident" parce que l'Europe postcommuniste souffre d'avoir été engagée sur le sentier de dépendance. La corruption est endémique a la fois dans la sphere économique et politique. La culture politique postcommuniste est plus sujet que participative. Le postcommunisme ne signifie pas une révolution, mais plutot une continuation du communisme sou de nouveaux atours.

What has become known under the name of post-communism has much more longue durée substance than was originally thought. Comparisons between post-communism and post-colonialism are well in place. Problem of the post-communist 'return to Europe' (Havel) is the impossibility tof joining 'the West' because the post-communist Europe suffers from path dependence. Corruption is endemic in both economic and political sphere. Post-communist political culture is more subject than participatory. Post-communism means no revolution but rather a continuation of communism in a new garment.
