Der Autor behandelt die Formen der gegenseitigen Beziehungen zwischen dem Römischen Reich und dem Marobud-Reich aus der Perspektive archäologischer und schriftlicher Quellen. Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeit liegt auf den Merkmalen der Struktur und Bedeutung römischer Importe in Böhmen, speziell in Mittelböhmen, wo sich im Barbaricum das Zentrum des ersten germanischen Reiches befand. Die vorliegende Arbeit stellt auch die Frage nach römischen Handwerkern am Hof von Marobud und dem Verhältnis von Marobud und der Region Böhmen zur Schlacht im Teutoburger Wald nach dem ehemaligen römischen Feldzug gegen Marobud. Das Ende von Marobuds Karriere lässt sich in den Kontext der Abreise aus Böhmen, der Überquerung der Donau, einer möglichen Übernachtung im ehemaligen keltischen (Boii) Oppidum in Bratislava und seiner anschließenden Abreise nach Italien stellen.

The author deals with the forms of mutual relations between the Roman and Marobud empires from the perspective of archaeological and written sources. The focus of the work lies in the characteristics of the structure and importance of Roman imports in Bohemia, specifically in the Central Bohemia, where the centre of the first Germanic empire in the Barbaricum was situated. !e present work also asks the question of Roman craftsmen at Marobud’s court, and the relation of Marobud and the region of Bohemia to the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest after the former Roman campaign against Marobud. !e end of Marobud’s career can be put in the context of leaving Bohemia, crossing the Danube river, possible overnight stay in the former Celtic (Boii) oppidum in Bratislava and his subsequent departure to Italy.
