New Legal Regulation of the Czech Citizenship and its Impact on the Fundamental Right to the Undisturbed Family Life

The article deals with changes in the Czech legal system that will come into force on 1st of January, 2014. The new Civil Code, which, among others, cancels the Family Act (Law N.94/1963 Coll.), brings changes to all legal branches, including the publiclaw. New legal terms, the concept of natural law which prevails in the Civil Code (Law No.89/2012 Coll.) , the EU membership of the Czech Republic and the global migration required changes in immigration policy and the acquisition and loss of the Czech citizenship. The article highlights the changes in the concept of understanding of uniform and only citizenship. The Law on Czech Citizenship (No.186/2013 Coll.) responds to modern trends in family life, but also tightens the possibility of obtaining Czech citizenship. This approach will make more difficult the family life especially for non-EU citizens living on the Czech territory.
