The paper presents results from a development of the fiber laser with ring cavity and a consequent measurement performed at the Czech Technical University in Prague in the frame of the project TA01011105 ?Optical packet switch?. The laser was designed for the wavelengths close to the upper edge of the telecommunication C-band (around 1565 nm). The pulse regime of the fiber laser in the scale of picoseconds was achieved by employing the passive mode synchronizati through the nonlinear polarization rotation.
