Use of the sludge from wastewater treatments plant for biomass production - heavy metals uptake, ecotoxicity tests
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
An experiment was set up to test the effect of the application of sewage sludge on the production of biomass and the heavy metals concentration in the biomass. Cultivation experiments were undertaken over a two year period at he Waste Water Treatment Plant of Jindřichův Hradec in plots of total size 140 m2. At the end of the growing season each species was analysed for their haevy metals contens for each treatment, and the mean weight of plants were recorded. from these data the biomass increase was estimeted. Ecotoxicological biotests showed that there was no contamination of ground water due to leaching throudht the soil profile. The study results that willow and poplar are suitable for biomass production an sludge treated soils. Based on the study experience, both species should be planted tohether due to either one being sesceptible to fungal infections. During the study period three species of weed were seen as having a hight biomass production and a.
