Possibilities of Replacing Conventional P-Fertilizers by P-Products Based on Sewage Sludge Ash.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Phosphorus(P) obtained by recycling from secondary sources can cover the increasing P consumption and significantly reduce the dependence of European countries on imports of phosphate rock. Promising secondary sources of P are municipal wastewater and related waste streams, especially sewage sludge(SS) or ash(SSA) from its mono-combustion. SSA usually contains between 15-25% P2O5, which is comparable to phosphate rock, typically containing 5-40%P2O5. Direct agricultural application of wastewater or SS, as the simplest way of P recycling, is decreasing in European countries due to the potential health and environmental risk, as these are often contaminated by organics, heavy metal compounds and pathogens. Complete removal of organic pollutants from SS is possible by incineration, while heavy metals mostly remain in the SSA. P is in SSA mainly in form of Ca, Al or Fe phosphates. The paper is discussing possibilities, limitations and state of developed methods for obtaining P from SSA.
