Der Beschlag von Kosoř/Prag-Radotín mit Kaiserporträt bildet den zweiten Fund aus dem Raum nördlich der awarisch geprägten Gräberfelder. Der Fundort ist ca. 330 km von der Grenze des Awarischen Kaganats entfernt und befindet sich in einer strategischen Lage. Der Beschlag zeigt eine perfekte Synthese von byzantinischen Vorlagen, die dem awarischen Geschmack voll entsprachen. Die Machtsymbolik des Kaiserporträts war wohl in ihren Hauptzügen allgemein verständlich. Bei den Vorlagen handelt es sich um offizielle Geschenke an den awarischen Kagan oder an seinen Vertreter.

This article publishes an exclusive gilded ring-shaped cast mount with a motif depicting a Byzantine emperor in profile. The find comes from the hill-settlement (prehistoric? hill-fort) Kosoř/Prague-Radotín, about 300 km from the border of the Avar Kaganate. The best parallels are the finds from Zemun Polje grave 2 dated to the 8th century, both mounts are local adaptations of Byzantine originals. These finds could be the gifts or booty of local (Czech) noblemen.
