In this paper, I will describe the impact of sheet metal and wire on small metal production in Central Europe. I will show how this previously unusual and not very well-known technique became an important factor in the production cycle of dress accessories. In Eastern Central Europe, the widespread use of this technique is related to the income of settlers from the west in the 13th century. Since then, we can observe the increase of mass-produced dress accessories made with the use of sheet metal and wire (buckle plates, strap ends, buckles made out of bent wire) or even solely out of those materials (clasps, buttons, bells). The spread of this technique also indirectly influenced the change in medieval dress and had an impact on the expression of social status.
