The planned construction of road I/16 from Slaný to Velvary had a length of 13.3 km and a width of 30–40 m. The construction area was divided into 21 sectors. The overall area of sectors was 71.5 ha. Geophysical (magnetic) survey was conducted between 2 and 14 January 2018. The survey covered more than 80 hectares along the route, overlapping the project's area wherever possible by 5 to 10 metres. Magnetic prospection was a part of the preliminary archaeological assessment, together with archival literature research, fieldwalking survey and multispectral-geotechnical survey. The aim was to determine the archaeological potential of the project area.
