The study deals with the position of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences as the most important institution of Czech science in the society in the late 1960s. The emphasis is mainly on the efforts of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences to implement compulsory scientific approach in all significant areas of politics and economy. It also reflects the complicated position of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1968, when it was perceived as a conservative institution that limitedly supported political reforms.
