Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit dem Prozess der Übernahme der österreichischen politischen Verwaltung durch die tschechoslowakische Republik 1918 bis 1920. Er behandelt einerseits die personellen Aspekte am Beispiel der Vorstände der Bezirkshauptmannschaften (die politischen Bezirksverwaltungen) im Vergleich zwischen Böhmen und Mähren, andererseits das Vorgehen der Prager Regierung beim Aufbau der Staatsverwaltung in der Slowakei. Im Fokus des Artikels steht also die Frage, wie der Nationalstaat der Tschechen und Slowaken mit dem österreichischen Verwaltungserbe sowohl auf der lokalen Ebene als auch im Milieu der Zentralbehörden in Prag umging.

The article deals with the process of the takeover of the Austrian political administration by the Czechoslovak Republic from 1918 to 1920. On the one hand, it treats questions of personnel using the example of the heads of the district prefectures (the political administrations at the district level) in a comparison between Bohemia and Moravia, on the other hand, it investigates the procedures of the Prague government in constructing public administration in Slovakia. The focus of the article is thus on the question of how the national state of Czechs and Slovaks dealt with the Austrian administrative heritage both on a local level and in the milieu of the Prague central authorities.
