This chapter reconstructs the historical context and social networks of the court of John the Blind, King of Bohemia and Count of Luxembourg (1310-1346), within which archival and narrative sources related to the poet and composer Guillaume de Machaut (+1377) are placed and interpreted. It outlines the biography and courtly career of Guillaume de Machaut during the years of his service to the King of Bohemia (ca1323-1346).
