Dryopteris remota rediscovered for the flora of the Czech Republic

Until now, Dryopteris remota had only been recorded in the Czech Republic from the Moravian Karst, ca 70 years ago. This record has been mentioned in some studies, but references to the data?s origins have always been missing. For this reason, D. remotahad been considered as an uncertain taxon for the flora of the Czech Republic. Recently, these unclear records from the Moravian Karst were verified by re-examination of original herbarium specimens. As a new species for Bohemia, D. remota was found in 2002 close to the village of Ktiš in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest (South Bohemia). We suggest its classification as a critically endangered plant species of the Czech Republic.
