Ecology, threats and conservation status of Carex buekii (Cyperaceae) in Central Europe
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Ecology and threats of tall sedge Carex buekii has been analysed, based on the field data from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and northern Italy and an extensive literature search. We found out that the ecological demands of the species are rather uniform across the studied region, i.e. there is not clear link between climate on the one hand and geological composition an soils on the other hand. C. buekii exhibits fairly broad ecological range: it usually occurs in nutrient rich habitats, but is also capable of colonising relatively nutrient-poor ones, it grows on both acidic and alkaline soils (pH 3.3–7.4) with diverse concentrations of assimilable elements (Ca, Mg, P, K). It grows on open sunny places as well as in open alluvial forests. Within its broad optimum it forms dense, species poor stands or monocoenoses, due to high competitive ability of the dominant suitable only for a limited number of accessoric species. Major threats of C. buekii are in habitat desctruction, the quality of its stands is further affected by ruderalisation.
