Der Aufsatz befasst sich mit der Theologie der göttlichen Namen bei Dionysios Areopagita und mit dem ihr zugrundeliegenden metaphysischen Konzept. Der Verfasser versucht nachzuweisen, dass dieses Konzept als eine originelle Umdeutung des proklischen metaphysischen Systems zu verstehen ist, die darin besteht, dass Dionysios die Anzahl der Seinsstufen des neuplatonischen hierarchischen Universums reduziert. Als entscheidendes Mittel zu dieser Reduktion wendet er aber nichts anderes als die von Proklos selbst stammende Theorie der Kausalität und der Partizipation an, durch die Proklos selbst das Problem der kausativen Verhältnisse von verschiedenen Seinsebenen löst.

The article is concerned with Dionysius's theology of the divine names and the metaphysical concept which constitutes the base of Dionysius's theological semantics. This metaphysical concept is demonstrated to be an original re-interpretation of the teaching of Proclus. It is argued that this re-interpretation consists in reducing the number of the ontological degrees acknowledged by the Neoplatonic system of hierarchy. Nevertheless, the main instrument employed in this elimination of mediating levels is Proclus's own theory of causality and participation.
