The study deals with the original view of Jerome of Prague on God whom he perceived as an universal. I show that this understanding is the basis of Jerome's depiction of the Shield of Faith. In the following, I uncover that the Trinity functioned for Jerome as an example suitable for clarifying the metaphysical relations between real universals and singulars. Jerome used this parallel, but not without restrictions. I clarify also the role of the depiction in the condemnation of Jerome.
