Als Ausgangspunkt ihrer Interpretation des Textes und Denkens Heraklits hat die Verfasserin seine Logoslehre gewählt, die in der tradierten Auffassung besonders entstellt ist. Durch die Untersuchung der maßgeblichen Fragmente wird gezeigt, dass sich Logos auf Sprache und Denken des Menschen bezieht; in Heraklits Fragmenten finden wir keinen Anlass dazu, von einem kosmischen oder göttlichen Logos zu sprechen. Die Befreiung des Logos von den kosmischen und göttlichen Bedeutungen erlaubt zugleich seine Beziehung zu anderen Grundwörtern des Denkens Heraklits, besonders Physis und Sophon (das Weise), zu erfassen. Das alles erhellende und lenkende Eíne Weise stellt das höchste göttliche Prinzip dar, mit dem einige Forscher unrichtig den Logos identifizieren.Systematische Aufmerksamkeit wird dem eigenartigen Stil Heraklits gewidmet. Rhythmisierte und oft mit Klangmitteln verschärfte Antithesen, Formelparallelismus und Paronomasie sind bei Heraklit keine bloß rhetorischen Figuren, sondern die

The monograph is result of interdisciplinary approach to the interpretation of philosophical text and thought, which the author as research worker both in linguistics and in the history of philosophy applies. This enables her to give new readings and interpretations of many fragments and to contribute to the understanding of the importance which the language occupies in the thought of Heraclitus. The recognition of the authentic meaning of logos in Heraclitus shows his philosophy in a new light. Logos means human language in internal connection with thinking, there is no ground for its interpretation as cosmic or divine principle in Heraclitus' text. Thus, liberated from skewing definitions logos appears in well-defined position with respect to other basic Heraclitean expressions and notions such as especially physis, sophon, etc..
