The paper compares certain aspects of Karel Kosík’s concept of the “world of the pseudoconcrete” with Louis Althusser’s concept of ideology, and shows up certain similarity of their epistemological approach. Although Kosík belonged to the tradition of humanist Marxism, while Althusser called for Marxism to be understood as theoretical anti-humanism, paper point out significant similarities between Althusser’s concept of ideology and Kosík’s concept of the world of the pseudoconcrete. The study also discusses how each of these conceptions is linked with a specific theory of the subject.
