Buscando el lugar del estudio sobre la “Fenomenología de la vida después de la muerte” en el conjunto del pensamiento de Patočka, se pueden encontrar varios hilos o complejos de ideas que podrían proporcionar un contexto para el estudio y un fondo para su interpretación: análisis fenomenológicos de la intersubjetividad, la corporeidad, la temporalidad, el problema del alma, el papel del otro en nuestro devenir nosotros mismos, formas de tratar con nuestra finitud. Recorriendo estos contextos, intentaré encontrar las razones de la decisión fundamental que toma Patočka en su estudio sobre el más allá, es decir, de su decisión de observar el más allá sólo en la conciencia y las acciones de los otros.

Looking for the place of the study on the “Phenomenology of the afterlife” within the whole of Patočka’s thought, one can find several threads or complexes of ideas that could provide a context for the study and a background for its interpretation: phenomenological analyses of intersubjectivity, corporeity, temporality, the problem of the soul, the role of the other in our becoming ourselves, ways of dealing with our finitude. Surveying these contexts, I will try to find the reasons for the fundamental decision Patočka takes in his study on the afterlife – i.e., for his decision to observe the afterlife only in the consciousness and actions of the others.
