Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Considering the history of the church in the area of today Montenegro, Albania and Croatia, what were the relations between the Western end the Eastern church? What can we say about the destiny of Florentine Union (1439)? In our report, we summarise the main problems of the attempts to put into effect the Union od both Churches from the beginning and all the main reasons of final failure of the idea. Political development in the Venetian territories was very unfavorable for the Western church, although it was majority religion in the middle age, but the expansion of the Ottoman empire, increasing number of orthodox inhabitants and the unscrupulous mercenary policy of Venecia debilitated its positions and led to the collapse of the Union. Based on the contemporary sources, we introduce to testimonies of clergymen about the unsurpassable differences between theory and practice from 1439 to late XVII century.
