Die Geburt des Erzherzogs oder der Erzherzogin und die Hochzeit eines Mitglieds des Hauses Habsburg waren in der Frühen Neuzeit ein Grund zum Feiern. Die Feierlichkeiten fanden nicht nur hinter den verschlossenen Türen der königlichen Residenz statt, sondern auch in den Städten und auf dem Land. Mit der Verbreitung der Nachricht von dem freudigen Ereignis erließen offizielle Behörden Anweisungen, wie Unterhaltungen organisiert werden sollten. Dynastische Feste transportierten die Person des Herrschers in das Bewusstsein der Menschen in den böhmischen Ländern – Orte, die der Monarch nach 1648 nur noch sporadisch bereiste. Sie förderten auch das Gefühl der Verbundenheit mit ihm und schufen eine kollektive Identität für die gemeinsam Feiernden.

The birth of the Archduke or Archduchess and the wedding of a member of the House of Habsburg were a cause for celebration in the early modern period. The festivities were held not only behind the closed doors of the royal residence, but also in the cities and in the countryside. With the spread of the news of the happy event, official authorities issued instructions on how entertainments should be organized. Dynastic celebrations transported the person of the ruler to the minds of those living in the Czech lands – places to which the monarch only travelled sporadically after 1648. They also supported a feeling of loyalty to him and created a collective identity for those celebrating together.
