Die vorliegende Studie befasst sich mit den Beziehungen zwischen der Universität Basel und den böhmischen Ländern seit der Gründung der Universität bis 1630. Die Analyse stützt sich vor allem auf die offiziellen Unterlagen der Universität, d.h. auf die Universitäts- und Fakultätsmatrikeln. Sie verfolgt nicht nur die Entwicklung der Zahl der Studierenden aus Böhmen und Mähren, die im Laufe von fast zwei Jahrhunderten die Basler Universität besuchten, sondern auch ihre geographische, soziale und konfessionelle Zusammensetzung, ihr Bildungsprofil und ihren weiteren Werdegang. Abschliessend werden weitere damit zusammenhängende Fragen erörtert.

This study focuses on relations between the Basel University and the Czech Lands since the university’s foundation until 1630. The analysis is based chiefly on the university’s official records, that is, on the university and faculty registers. It follows not only the changes in the numbers of students from Bohemia or Moravia who attended the Basel University in the course of nearly two centuries, but also their geographical, social, and confessional composition, educational profile, and subsequent careers. It concludes by considering other related issues.
