The study captures the issue of deprivation of noble titles. This occurred under the laws of the monarchy from the end of the 18th century (from the reign of Joseph II) until 1918, but here the voluntary resignation of the title on personal grounds is illustrated. The issue is dealt with using specific examples of members of the Austrian nobility (Hendl, Alesani, Windisch-Graetz).
