Die Studie befasst sich mit der Beziehung zwischen der mittelalterlichen Stadt und ihrer ländlichen Umgebung, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die zentrale und einzugsgebietsbezogene Rolle städtischer Gemeinden. Sie geht auch auf die Frage ein, was das sogenannte „Weichbild“ unter tschechischen Verhältnissen war.
