Stability of personality between adolescence and middle adulthood: Personality traits and self-esteem
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The study deals with the stability of personality traits and self-concept between adolescence and adulthood. The sample consisted of 83 participants (35 men and 48 women aged from 38 to 45) who participate in follow-up longitudinal study of adults in thesurvey carried out in childhood. Personality characteristics (extraversion and neuroticism) were measured at the age of 16 years with the Maudsley Personality inventory MPI, in adulthood with the Eysenck´s personality inventory EPI. Self-esteem was examined at the age of 14 years using the Coopersmith´s self-assessment questionnaire C.S.E.I., general self-esteem and its components were compared with selected aspects of the self-concept in adulthood. For extraversion and neuroticism predicted stabilitywas found (correlation coefficients 0.39 respectively. 0.44). Other results show that the general level of self-esteem in adolescence is related to adult self-concept clarity rather than self-esteem.
