Leadership and Well-being among Academic Staff in Czech Universities
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The presentation examines the relationship between academic leadership and well-being of academic staff in a sample of 2.229 academics employed in Czech public universities. The findings showed that respondents reported high levels of general job satisfaction and work engagement, but more than one third reported low or very low quality of academic leadership at their departments. Both job satisfaction and quality of leadership most strongly correlated with rewards, followed by autonomy, performance feedback, influence and support from supervisor. The authors conclude that academic leaders should focus on their ability to provide feedback, and create work environment in which academics feel rewarded and experience both job autonomy and influence over their job tasks.
