To offend or not to offend: reintegration of offenders into society

The presentation will concentrate upon the issue of reintegration and resocialization of offenders into society, especially its success or failure. The research includes 76 released offenders on probation in Czech Republic. The presentation will summarize findings regarding the reasoning of offender why desist from crime or continue in committing the crime. The study of resocialisation and reintegration of offenders into the society is of great importance as it can help in reducing reoffending and crimerates. Furthermore, insufficient amount of research has concentrated on property crime offenders in relation to reintegration and resocialisation of offenders. It is therefore necessary to concentrate on these offenders. If we can understand the processes, which influence their return to criminal activity after incarceration or which influence successful non-criminal reintegration into the society we can implement these findings in preventative measures as well.
