A l?occasion de la exposition "Rome et les Barbares", nous présentons ce sujet, orienté ? l?évolution historique dans les deux premiers si?cle apr?s JC dans le bassin danubien moyen. Dans ce travail nous étalons un aperçu de l?évolution romaine aussi bien que celle du côté barbare de la fronti?re danubienne. Notre dissertation suit bri?vement la progression de la naissance des provinces romaines: Rhétie, Norique, Pannonie, Mésie et Dacie, saisissant ainsi un laps de temps entre la fin du 1er si?cle avant JC et le début du 2?me si?cle apr?s JC. A cette époque, parmi les groupes barbares on assiste ? la création d?importants ensembles tribaux de Marcomans, Quades et Sarmates qui entretenaient des relations tr?s variées et intensives avec l?Empire romain.Cette premi?re phase des relations romano-barbares dans le bassin danubien moyen culmine ? la période des guerres de Marcomans de l?empereur Marc Aur?le qui représentaient un tournant dans l?évolution historique de l?Europe centrale.

Barbarians and Romans on the Danubian limes

On the occasion of extensive international exhibition in Venice and Bonn called "Rome and Barbarians" this theme is presented, namely with the orientation to historical development in first two centuries AD in the Middle Danube region. The work summarizes development on both Roman and Barbarian side of Danube boundary separating these two civilizational circles. In brief, gradual formation is discussed of Roman provinces Raetia, Noricum, Pannonia, Moesia and Dacia, depicting the time interval since theend of the 1st century BC up to beginning of the 2nd century AD. In addition to Barbarian groups, also important tribe wholes of Marcomanni, Quadi and Sarmatians formed, which kept very varied and intensive relations with Roman Empire. This first phase of Roman-Barbarian relations in the Middle Danube region culminated in Marcommannic wars of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius that represented an important milestone in the historical development of Central Europe.
