Im Zusammenhang mit der kurzen Übersicht über slawische Burgwälle in Mähren befasst sich dieser Artikel (mit einer einzigen Ausnahme) detailliert mit Herrenhöfen der Slawen nördlich der Mitteldonau zur Zeit des grossmährischen Reiches. Er stellt fest, dass sich das System der Gehöfte im grösseren Masse besonders in der zweiten Hälfte des 9. Jahrhunderts durchsetzte. Eventuelle Vorbilder stammen vor allem aus dem fränkischen und bayerischen Bereich. Die äussere Form der Gehöfte war durch ihre Funktion vorgegeben und nicht ganz einheitlich. Die Gehöfte wurden von der privilegierten Schicht erbaut und erhalten - von reichen und edlen Grundbesitzern, Eigentümern von beweglichem Besitz und Utertanen, die wichtige Funktionen in dem Regierungs-, Verwaltungs-,Militär-, Gerichts- und Fiskalapparat des Landes innehatten.

In connection with the brief overview of Slavic ramparts in Moravia the article explores in detail (with one exception) the homesteads of magnates among the Slavs to the north of the middle Danube area at the time of the existence of Great Moravia. It asserts that the system of homesteads became relatively well established particularly in the second half of the 9th century. Possible models derive primarily from the Frankish and Bavarian milieu. The outer form of the farmsteads was determined by their function and was not entirely uniform. The farmsteads were built and held by the privileged class - by wealthy and high-born land owners, owners of moveable property and subjects who held important functions in the governmental, administrative, military, judicial and fiscal apparatus of the land.
