Das Buch stellt den ersten Band der geplanten Schriftenreihe ?Flussarchäologie in Mikulčice? (FAM) dar, die der Erforschung der ehemaligen Flussarme in Mikulčice gewidmet sein soll. Es handelt sich vor allem um die unikalen großflächigen Abdeckungen, diein der zweiten Hälfte des vorigen Jahrhunderts im Raum der ehemaligen Flussarme rund um die großmährische Burg stattfanden. Der Band eröffnet die umfangreiche und atraktive Problematik der Flussarchäologie in Mikulčice. Er bringt eine Charakteristik einzelner Grabungsflächen sowie einen Überblick der Befunde. Er schildert den heutigen Erkentnisstand und stellt die Fragen für die nächste Forschung.

This book is the first volume in the planned series ?Flussarchäologie in Mikulčice (FAM), which focuses on the research in the area of filled-up river distributaries in Mikulčice. The research consists chiefly of unique large-scale excavations carried out in the 2nd half of the past century in the area around the Great-Moravian stronghold. This volume opens the large, attractive issue of Mikulčice river archaeology. It brings the characteristics of the excavated areas, an overview of archaeological objects detected, an outline of the current state of knowledge and formulates questions for further research in this area.
