Zur Problematik der Kirchenbestattungen in Mikulčice

Die Studie fasst den aktuellen Erkenntnisstand des Themas von Interieurgräbern in den Kirchen des 9. Jahrhunderts von Mikulčice zusammen und definiert die Kriterien und Fragen für die weitere Untersuchung dieses Phänomens. Die Kirchenbestattungen befinden sich in drei in der Hauptburg liegenden Kirchen, die zu den bedeutendsten Sakralbauten von Mikulčice gehören (Kirchen 2, 3 und 4). Bei der hypothetischen 12. Kirche bleibt die Frage der Interpretation von fünf Bestattungen als Interieurgräber offen. Aufgrund der vorläufigen Analyse der verfügbaren Daten neigt der Autor ähnlich wie z.B. M. Schulze-Dörrlamm zur Interpretation von Innengräbern in den Haupträumen großmährischer Kirchen als dynastische Bestattungen. Dennoch stößt die eindeutige Interpretation auf einen Mangel von zuverlässigen Daten, vor allem von schriftlichen Quellen, epigraphischen Denkmälern und genetischen Daten.

The study summarizes the current state of research of interior graves in Mikulčice churches and defines criteria and questions for further research. It concerns three churches located in the acropolis of the Mikulčice Stronghold, in which early medieval graves were found in their interior, it is not a coincidence that these are the most important sacred buildings in Mikulčice (Church 2, 3 and 4). In the case of a hypothetical Church 12 in the northeast corner of the acropolis, the question of interpreting five burials as interior graves remains open. Based on a preliminary evaluation of the available data, the author suggests an interpretation of the interior graves in the main church premises of the Great Moravian churches as dynastic burials. Nevertheless, author holds that the lack of evidence does not permit an unambiguous interpretation and identification of the church graves: e.g. the lack of written sources, epigraphic monuments, genetic traits, etc.
