The south-eastern periphery of the Pavlov I site as a piece of puzzle. Insight into the complex Gravettian sites
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The contribution investigates the south-eastern periphery of the Pavlov I site, a key Gravettian settlement in Central Europe. Focusing on an area excavated in 2014, we analyse spatial organization, microstratigraphy, and natural process impacts on site formation. The excavation revealed settlement structures, including a significant dwelling unit (S1) and associated activity areas. This investigation contributes to the broader discourse on pre-Last Glacial Maximum hunter-gatherer adaptations by presenting new chronological data and an extensive lithic and faunal remains inventory. Our findings, including various tools and diverse faunal remains, reflect complex behavioural patterns and resource utilization. The research highlights the importance of peripheral areas in archaeological site studies and provides a foundation for future comprehensive evaluations of the Pavlov I site.
