Název v původním jazyce
Effect of cadmium on hematological indices of common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.)
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Considering the erythrocyte profile, the main response to the acute exposure to cadmium was a significant increase of erythrocyte, haemoglobin and haematocrit values compared to the control group. Values of MCV, MCH and MCHC were comparable in both the control and experimental groups. Adaptive changes in red blood cell system were probably a response to impairment of gas exchange in cadmium-affected gills. Leukocyte profile of the experimental groups resulted in significantly lower leukocyte and lymphocyte count. In the contrary, there was a significant increase in relative count of monocytes, metamyelocytes, band neutrophiles and segmented neutrophiles. Absolute count of monocytes, metamyelocytes, band- and segmented neutrophile granulocytes, relativeand absolute count of myelocytes, were comparable in both groups during the study. That poisoning of fish with metals might also result in impairment suppression of non-specific and specific immune response.
