Genetic relationships within Czech sika and red deer populations
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Genetic relationships among populations of red and sika deer species are mixed up. Until now, no genetic methods were used to analyse the genetic structure of both species in the Czech Republic. This study aims to contribute to the knowledge on the relationships within red and sika deer populations, and their relationship to deer populations in other countries. Samples from 190 individuals from various localities in the Czech Republic were tested for genetic polymorphism in the D-loop region. In addition 22 sika deer samples from autochthonous localities in Japan and Russia were analysed and data set was completed by sequences downloaded from GenBank database. The study confirms expected high haplotype diversity in the population of red deer and relatively low diversity in the population of sika deer. It also gives the first data on the origins and genetic variability of sika deer and Dybowski?s sika deer population in the Czech Republic based on genetic analyses.
